  3. Domaine des Tilleuls Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur lie Vieilles Vignes «Les Quatre Chanteaux»

This is a wine produced from 50 to 70 years old vines carefully hand-picked during the harvest. Cold clarification of the grape juice, then traditional fermentation in concrete underground vats (typical of the Pays Nantais) with a temperature controlled for a better aromas extraction. The wine is then kept on its lees for 12 months before bottling adding more structure and body to the wine.

Tasting Notes: Dominant aromas of citrus and green apple with subtle floral and smoky – almost flinty- flavours, revealing a mineral edge and a lingering taste giving way to a full-bodied wine. Dry yet fruity, this is an exceptional example of a refined Muscadet.

  4. Failoni - Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi D.O.C. Classico

Made from Verdicchio grapes and aged on the lees in stainless steel for six months. The ‘yellow’ note of gorse appears to be a Castellaretta trademark, the way wild fennel is for the wine from the close-by Salmagina district. The color is a distinct straw-yellow with golden reflections while the aroma is ‘fibrous’ (without grain notes) with scents of gorse, honey and acacia. The mouthfeel is pure Staffolo, rich yet at the same time citrusy with notes of almond and yeast. This is not a technical wine and has a rustic imprint but without exaggeration.

  5. Domaine Ansen Riesling (Lerchensand Single Vineyard)

Lerchensand is a southward hillside vineyard. This narrow and low hill is covered with small vine fields. High amounts of clay contribute to the dark colour of the ground and low fertility. The underground belongs to the Keuper marl of the Trias period. 210 millions years ago, an ancient sea evaporated, leaving salt and clay. The combination of high amounts of magnesium, the storage of warmth and the incredibly long vegetation period is what makes it possible in the first place to produce such outstanding whites with crisp acidity.

  7. Domaine Ansen Alsace White (Sal Weingarten Single Vineyard)

Off dry, with exotic, fruity notes.

Sal Weingarten lies on a southward steep slope. High amounts of iron contribute to the reddish colour of the ground. The underground belongs to the Bundsandstein sandstone of the Trias period. Vine roots are able to seek nutrients deep into the ground. Red sandstone allows rapid warming and is able to store water only moderately, as a result of its sandy structure. The vines therefore tend to exhibit moderate growth and tolerate a long vegetation period which permits a more intensive formation of aromas.

    Grape: 50 % Grieco, 50% Cerreto

This is the only white in the Podere Veneri Vecchio stable and is treated like a red with long maceration on the skin giving it a dense golden colour, with broom, white peach, khaki and a great whiff of yeasty toast bequeathed by developing on its lees with frequent batonnage. Deceptively simple, it comes out gradually in a crescendo of aromas and sensations which are creamy and persistent.
