  2. Clos Troteligotte 6 Bottle Mixed Case (The Portfolio Reds)
    £99.74

    A 6 bottle mixed case of the following wines: K-nom, K-pot, K-or, K-lys, K and K2.

K-nom: 85% Malbec, 15% Merlot, ageing on lees in concrete tanks. The entry level wine from Clos Troteligotte, K-Nom is soft and very juicy, with light tannins and black-currant fruit. Made to be drunk young. Brilliant, ruby, fine nose, very aromatic, currant, menthol and undergrowth.

K-pot:100% Malbec, aged on lees in concrete tanks with no added Sulphites. This wines is marked by an impressive colour intensity. On the nose we have a perfect expression of Malbec in its primary character, pure black fruit aromas. We find the blackberry and blueberry crisp tender, finely accompanied by spicy notes of raw liquorice and black pepper. Discrete tannins elegantly punctuate the mouth. Simple and sincere expression of a fine wine.

K-or: 100% Malbec, ageing on lees in concrete tanks. The 2013 vintage has benefited from a cool climate and slow maturity. September and October were sunny and enabled the fruit to reach good maturity. This intense and rich wine has also managed to keep a great sense of balance. The black fruits emerge from the firm tannins, bringing with them juicy acidity and a dusty texture. The wine is still young, but it’s developing well to emerge ripe and delicious.

K-Lys: 100% Malbec aged 24 months in barrels on its lees. This big, spicy wine is very smooth and rich now, but also has the potential to age. Dusty tannins, perfumed fruits and a rich dense character offer the potential to drink in a year. This is a great expression of Cahors. The wine is rated 90/100 by Wine Enthusiast

K: 100% Malbec aged for 24 months in barrel on lees. The core of the “K” range, this wine shows its wood and tannins right up front. It’s certainly powerful, with a sense of concentrated black fruits behind the firm and dry structure. A dark and brooding wine, this has enormous potential, so give it at least six years. Rated 93/100 by Wine Enthusiast

K2: 100% Malbec, ageing on lees in amphoras. This dense and dark wine is showing as much tannin as fruit at this stage. It’s powerful, the dark fruits ripe and seriously structured. Spice, berries, coffee and a tense, mineral texture are all part of the mix. It needs considerable ageing.
